Project Help Nevada and Life Changes, Inc partner to present the

First Annual Street Santa Project!

As the frigid winds of a northern Nevada winter blows in, the days are cold and the nights even colder on the River Walk in downtown Reno. We stand inside our cozy offices, sipping a hot drink, gazing out at the Truckee River as it rushes by gathering the rainfall and preparing it's banks to swell with what is sure to be another five months of rain and snow. Across the way, we see the twinkle of lights against the backdrop of the city.

Sounds beautiful, peaceful, even serene doesn't it? Yet, for many in our community, this scene brings on dread as they prepare for another night sleeping outdoors, hoping they survive the onslaught of another, or even their first, winter on the streets. The fear and desperation they experience on a daily basis turns into toughness as they learn the ways of the streets. In the light of day, they seek shelter, a hidden spot with perhaps a bit of sunshine to warm them as they seek just a moments respite.

Inside our warm offices, we watch as our community members lean into the wind, wrapped in whatever warm items they can find, and we vow to make an impact, not just during this season, but during every season.

On December 15th, we are kicking off our Youth Speak outreach project by gathering much needed items and leaving them in areas where our most vulnerable citizens frequent.

We invite you to join Project Help Nevada and Life Changes in the first annual
