Blue birds sit majestically viewing the world around them. They look left, they look right, silent, still and always oh so inquisitive. A reflection of how Mitchell views the world.
Upon closer view, we can see that Mitchell used at least seven shades of blue, more than five shades of yellow and three different shades of green. All colors are placed strategically according to the diagram Mitchell sees internally. This beautiful piece of art depicts Mitchell's distinct view.
Vibrant colors under the sea immediately catch our attention. We are drawn to the wispy tendrils of the jelly fish and can visualize their graceful journey through the sea.
Oh the power of the birch tree - growing strong under the protection of it's mothers branches. Peaking up to the moonlight, growing, growing, growing strong. The birch symbolizes renewal and protection, it is known as the White Goddess of Trees.
The gently daisy, especially white daisies, mean innocence, simplicity and joy, happiness, good luck and new beginnings. It is the birth flower of those born in the month of April. It shows Mitchell's pure, unblemished view of his world and is just as refreshing and pure as he is!
The symbolic meaning of the Seahorse is quite intricate and diverse as this little creature itself is full of surprises. ... The Torres Strait Islanders believed that the seahorse is a luck of good fortune/charm an attribute of the sea, the seahorse is considered to be a symbol of strength and power.
The beautiful, tranquil setting of this painting brings to mind, bright blue and sunny skies, crisp, frost ground coming soon, trees painted with majesty of natures's own paintbrush. This scene is a favorite of Mitchell's and we often see it depicted in varying seasons.
We can spend hours gazing at the intricacies of this amazing piece. Layers of paint, color mixes and spontaneous strokes of the brush intrigue and hold us captive.
Nothing is more spiritual than the lotus - many cultures believe it symbolizes spiritual enlightenment and rebirth - it experiences immaculate conception every single day. Grown best with it's roots immersed in mud, it submerges every night into the murky waters and miraculously re-blooms the next morning pure and beautiful.
Here we see Mitchell's playful mastery of the brushes. His play on the colors and texture of the Bouffant Woman's hair is second only to his mastery of her facial characteristics.
Could this be the beauty of a Northern Nevada sky? Nevada's natural wonders include "Sky islands" with all the majestic and vibrant colors nature has to offer.
Is it sunrise or sunset? Regardless, the colors of this beautiful and serene path draw us to the possibilities. Is it romance, excitement or adventure that we are seeking...will we find it here?
